Lawn Disease & Fungus Treatment

Brown patches in your lawn. Circular dead spots that keep growing. Grass that looks thin, discolored, or just “off” no matter how much you water it. These are the kinds of problems that frustrate homeowners every season, and lawn disease and fungus is often the culprit that goes undetected the longest.

Turf diseases are tricky because their symptoms closely resemble other common problems, including mowing damage, poor irrigation, or surface feeding insects. Getting the diagnosis right is the first step toward getting your lawn back on track.

What Does Lawn Disease Actually Look Like?

Brown or Dead Patches
Irregular or circular areas of brown, dead grass are one of the most common indicators. If those patches aren’t responding to water or fertilizer, disease is worth investigating.

Discolored or Spotted Grass Blades
Yellowing grass, red or orange tinting, or visible spots on individual blades often point to fungal activity rather than a nutrition or watering issue.

Thin or Matted Areas
Grass that looks matted down, slimy after rain, or consistently thinner than surrounding turf can indicate disease pressure working beneath the surface.

Rings or Patterns in the Lawn
Circular or arc-shaped patterns, sometimes called fairy rings, are a telltale sign of fungal disease and tend to expand outward over time if left untreated.

Treatment Timing and Prevention

Like most lawn problems, disease is far easier to address early. Some diseases spread rapidly under the right conditions, and a lawn that looks manageable in June can look significantly worse by August without intervention.

Preventive care, including proper fertilization, responsible watering practices, and a consistent treatment program, goes a long way toward keeping disease pressure low.

Our Lawn Protector Program is built around this kind of proactive, season-long approach so problems get caught and addressed before they take hold.
